Summer inside my heart.

My angst and the scorching Sun
both simmer simultaneously
day after day like the cruel months of midsummer
as the chunks of lignite burn slowly
inside a furnace, red and purple.
What fuels the round auburn beast, I don’t know
but my heart pumps the red kerosene
of suffered betrayal, mistrust and inability to my body.
Pains, it burns when the red venom spreads across the veins slowly little by little.

The cover of rain clouds, its intermittent showers
offer some relief from the outer temperature.
Sometimes the heart soaked in tears
that welled up in my pair of eyes
allow me to be cool from inside and to remain unaffected.
